Bringing manufacturing jobs back to Cockburn

Members of our Economic Development team were fortunate to tour the facilities of Striker in Henderson this week.

This dynamic business employs over 50 people and is gearing up to relocate their manufacturing from Malaysia back to Henderson. Their clients who are mainly based in Australia and New Zealand will be the clear winners from this decision with improved service and greater quality control.

The City is actively assisting Striker with their grant application to State Government for the Investment Attraction Fund.
The parklet recently installed by the City of Cockburn on Yangebup Road provides additional amenity to nearby businesses.

Rebate program for alfresco dining

The grants program is part of the $67 million Level 1 COVID-19 Business Assistance Package and is now open to eligible small businesses including cafés, bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels.

Under the scheme, small businesses can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to create or expand their alfresco operations including purchasing new furniture, lighting, weather protection, interactive play spaces and art.

The alfresco rebates are a key part of the State Government's COVID-19 Business Assistance Package, allowing businesses to expand their operating footprint and for more people to dine out in a COVID-safe way.

The State Government is also progressing changes to local laws which will cut red tape and make it easier for cafés and restaurants to create street alfresco dining spaces.
