Cockburn is open for business with Indonesia!

Close to one hundred local businesses, as well as businesses from Indonesia, Singapore and beyond attended the City’s inaugural Cockburn Indonesian Digital Exchange Forum last week.

Held at the AMC Jakovich Centre in Henderson in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, the event was a huge success.

Attendees learned about trade agreements with Indonesia and networked across five industry areas, including cybersecurity, blue economy/defence, health, agribusiness and education.

Guests also enjoyed a beautiful performance from the Dharma Wanita Persatuan, who performed a musical ensemble using the traditional Indonesian instrument made of bamboo, called angklung

We hope to make this an annual event, so stay tuned for updates in 2023.

The Best Bits of 2022

Our vision is to make Cockburn the best place to be.

This year, the City delivered numerous outstanding projects and initiatives for our community, with our community.

Take a look at some of our highlights from 2022 across our five key outcome areas.

We want your feedback on our plan for a safer Cockburn

Cockburn businesses have told us that safety and crime prevention are top priorities. We listened and have prepared a draft plan to help make Cockburn a true leader in community safety and we want to know what you think.

What’s covered in the plan?

The draft plan covers new initiatives above our business-as-usual commitment to creating a safe, vibrant, healthy, and connected community, such as:

  • Expanding CCTV throughout Cockburn, including the Bibra Lake Industrial Complex
  • Advocating for increased CCTV and surveillance at the Australian Marine Complex
  • Advocating for increased Police resources in Cockburn
  • Partnering with Cockburn Gateways and Phoenix Shopping Centre to educate shoppers on the dangers of leaving items unattended
  • Providing the Co-Safe service on a 24/7 basis
  • Early intervention mentoring and traineeship programs.

You can read the draft plan on the City’s Comment on Cockburn website or in person at a Cockburn library (Coolbellup, Spearwood, and Success) or the City's Administration Building (9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood).
