With no clear guidance from the federal government, each state — hell, each parent — has been left to their own devices this summer. Many camps aren’t in session, but parents need a break. So parents are making vastly different choices for their kids with the same info.
Welcome to this weird summer of parenting, COVID-style.
I loved this piece by senior reporter Catherine Pearson because it validated all the confusion, heartbreak and anger I’m feeling. On one hand, I know we’re still deep in the middle of the first wave of this pandemic; on the other, my children need outside stimulation after four months of only seeing mom and dad. So if you feel like you’ve made the wrong call, or the right one, know you’re very much not alone.
Check out the piece here.
Also, a scheduling note: I’ll be on vacation (at home) next week and the following Monday, so this newsletter will take a short break. I hope you all have a restful holiday week (or as restful as any of this can possibly be). See you in your inbox on July 13th. |
