I am a sincere person who wants to mature, learn, and evolve. Why should I need a guru for that? I have my own legs to walk with, my own head to think with, my own heart to guide me, my own will to get me to my goals in life.
The concept of a guru or teacher was well established in my mind throughout my childhood. In India, every teacher is called a guru — whether one teaches painting or the path to finding God.
I was magnetized to Ananda Sangha for two reasons. First, to learn how to meditate and deepen my practice. Second, because my beloved Gurudev Paramhansa Yogananda was the strongest magnet.
Yogananda described intuition as the soul's power of knowing God. Do your best to feel that in everything you do, you are doing it for God. The more you can do that, the more you find a sense of freedom.
