Minnie Evans frequently painted images of butterflies and angels in her garden scenes. Minnie's work is currently on view in Minnie, Clyde, Annie, Vollis. Last week, the Museum Shop Manager and CAM's Property Manager planted 50 milkweed plants near Minnie Evans' re-created gatehouse on CAM's campus. Since Monarchs have been in decline, it is our hope to bring back the butterfly population. The milkweed is a main source of food for the Monarch butterfly and the only plant where Monarchs lay their eggs. Thank you to everyone who purchased seeds in the shop this spring and a very special thank you to the anonymous "Milkweed Angel" who paid for the milkweed plants. Butterfly kisses to you!
Why is Outsider Art referred to as Outsider Art? How has it become an art historical category? And what makes it important? Drawing on works from CAM exhibition: Minnie Clyde Annie Vollis, this talk provides audiences with a more in-depth understanding of what outsider art is and why it is important.
