CFPB proposes foreclosure safeguards for homeowners The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has proposed rules under which mortgage servicers would have to pursue all avenues to assist homeowners before resorting to foreclosure, with options including placing payments on hold and expanding the loan term to reduce monthly payments.
