Byron Bowers is an actor, stand-up comedian, writer and producer who can currently be seen in the Apple TV+ limited series LADY IN THE LAKE alongside Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. He also served as a consulting producer on the project. In 2022, he released his debut comedy special SPIRITUAL N***A on FX/Hulu, directed by Har’el. In this deeply intimate hour, Bowers talks about the stigma of mental health, how tripping on psychedelic mushrooms made him understand his schizophrenic father, and how it altered the way he feels about his blackness. PLAYLAND conjures a time-bending night in Boston’s oldest and most notorious gay bar. Featuring an eclectic ensemble of queer performers, including drag icon Lady Bunny and POSE’s Danielle Cooper, the transdisciplinary film sees music, dance, archival footage, tableaux, opera, and performance art layered into an ethereal piece subverting all boundaries. The work of queer fantasy and history takes place inside the empty husk of the Playland Café. Although the cafe shut down in the late ’90s, PLAYLAND stages one last bawdy night on the town for the ghosts of their LGBTQ+ ancestors.

Emil Wakim is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. Emil was born and raised in Chicago before moving to Bloomington, Indiana for college where he began performing stand-up.

This fall, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for its milestone 50th season as the first Lebanese- American cast member. Emil made his late-night television debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and is featured on Don't Tell Comedy as well as Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Featuring and was selected as a New Face of Comedy at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.

In August 2019, Alonzo starred in his fourth stand-up special, Alonzo Bodden: Heavy Lightweight, which premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. In the special, he touches upon a range of topics from slavery, cell phones and the #MeToo movement, to millennials, Kanye West and Taco Bell.
