Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Fox News' Jessica Tarlov

Jessica Tarlov, co-host of Fox News’ The Five, pulled no punches while discussing former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard's announcement that she was leaving the Democratic Party.

On Tuesday, Tarlov's fellow hosts asked her how it feels to be “down one” Democrat following Gabbard's departure from the party. Her lengthy answer elicited strong responses from two of her co-hosts.

Tarlov argued that Gabbard has not been supportive of the Democratic Party for a while now, calling the former representative "vindictive and spiteful and angry towards Democrats."

“I’m certainly not going to sit here and say that she has any direct ties to Russia, but I don’t know how you end up in a position where they refer to you as ‘our girlfriend’ on Russian state TV,” Tarlov said, referencing a March appearance by Gabbard on Tucker Carlson’s show, which was later shown in Russia.

She then correctly pointed out a serious blemish on Gabbard's record: her unauthorized trip in 2017 to meet with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, a meeting that sanitized a war criminal who at the time was murdering civilians en masse and with impunity.

So much for objecting to "war-mongers" as Gabbard claimed in her statement announcing her exit from the Democratic Party.

Tarlov's comments prompted outrage from Judge Jeanine Pirro, who condemned Tarlov for criticizing Gabbard despite her time serving in the Army.

“I thank her for her service, but because you served, it doesn’t mean that you are free of criticism for the rest of your life,” Tarlov said, concluding her apt and fact checkable reproval of the former Democrat.

MEDIA LOSER:
Alex Jones

A Connecticut jury ordered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay $965 million in damages to eight families of victims killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The jury ordered Jones to pay $229 million to the first three plaintiffs alone.

On top of the astronomical damages, jurors said the plaintiffs should also be awarded attorney's fees, which will be determined in November.

The verdict came after three weeks of emotional and personal testimony from parents and siblings of the victims, in a state court in Waterbury, Connecticut.

The decision marks a victory for the families of Sandy Hook victims who have been tormented for years by the Infowars host who repeatedly claimed the massacre was a government hoax and that those involved — including the 28 dead, 20 of them children — were “actors.”

Those conspiracy theories, which were aired for years on Infowars, led to harassment and threats against the surviving families of Sandy Hook victims, 20 of whom were children.

In August, a Texas jury in a similar case ordered Jones to pay nearly $50 million to the parents of Jesse Lewis, a six-year-old boy murdered in the shooting.

Things are not looking good for Jones, who still has an upcoming Sandy Hook damages trial in Austin, Texas, stemming from a suit he lost to Lenny Pozner and Veronique De La Rosa, the parents of the youngest victim Noah Pozner.

And as Former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman noted on MSNBC, Jones is "basically broke now for the rest of his life."
