| | MEDIA WINNER: Roger Sollenberger The Daily Beast's Roger Sollenberger essentially broke the internet with his mega scoop on Monday night. According to Sollenberger's report, and it's a big one, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Georgia, Herschel Walker, reportedly paid for an abortion for a woman he impregnated in 2009. The report is particularly newsworthy as Walker has run on a strict pro-life platform, calling abortion murder and arguing abortion bans should make no exception for rape, incest, or the life of the mother. “The woman said she had the procedure and that Walker reimbursed her for it. She supported these claims with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a ‘get well’ card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker,” wrote Sollenberger. Walker responded to the story by calling it “a flat-out lie,” adding, “I [sic] planning to sue the Daily Beast for this defamatory lie. It will be filed tomorrow morning.” The Beast’s politics editor Matt Fuller backed Sollenberger in response, replying, “I can tell you we stand behind every word and feel very solid about the story.” Not only did the Beast back the stunning report, but Walker's own son, Christian Walker later unleashed on his father for denying it. Within minutes of the reporting, and Walker’s response, Christian shared a series of videos on Twitter, in which he categorized his father as a dishonest serial philanderer with a propensity for violence. And you know my favorite issue to talk about is father absence. Surprise! Because it affected me!" he said. "That’s why I talk about it all the time, because it affected me.Family values people, he has 4 kids with 4 different women, wasn’t in the house raising one of them! He was out having sex with other women!” Props to Sollenberg on the insane bombshell, which garnered impressive media attention, stirred up family drama, and even prompted a response from former President Donald Trump. |

| MEDIA LOSER: Tucker Carlson Fox News’s top-rated host, Tucker Carlson, declared President Joe Biden “responsible, either directly or through proxies for the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines.” The comments, made on Carlson's show Monday, are the latest in a series of remarks suggesting the U.S. is behind the sabotage of the energy pipelines, which carry gas from Russia to northern Europe. Monday’s comments went far past a suggestion. “So the question of who blew up Russia’s energy pipelines to Europe, which is not just a question in the news, it’s a historical question. We’ve addressed it a couple of times already, is not really much of a question anymore,” Carlson began, unequivocally declaring Biden did it — despite a lack of any hard evidence. “So on television, they’re assuring you that, obviously, the Russians did it. Vladimir Putin sabotaged his own pipelines with his nation at war. Putin intentionally destroyed Russia’s most vital national asset,” Carlson continues. “Now, why do you ask yourself, would Putin do that? Well, because. Because actually, no one’s explained why Putin would do something like that.” Carlson failed to note that his own Fox News colleague very clearly laid out the military rationale for why Putin would do it. "That is true. It’s done. So the question is, where does that leave us?" Carlson declared, again without evidence. "And that’s the problem. This act leaves us, the United States, with no option but total war with Russia." Carlson also made sure to attack CNN, Former CIA Director John Brennan, and Secretary of State Tony Blinken. He did not, however, mentionRussia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, which has left tens of thousands dead, nor did he mention the war crimes committed against the Ukrainian population. Carlson may be right. We don't know who blew up the pipeline. But for a news host to confidently declare an unknown to be known, while in the same breath acknowledging he has no evidence to support that certainty, is a complete failure. |
