Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
AP Reporters Brian Slodysko & James LaPorta

AP reporters Brian Slodysko and James LaPorta revealed that Ohio GOP House candidate J.R. Majewski has grossly misinterpreted his military service.

Majewski, campaigning for a northwestern Ohio congressional seat, has presented himself as an Air Force combat veteran who deployed to Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks.

He has gone as far as describing “tough” conditions while deployed, including a lack of running water, which forced him to avoid showering for more than 40 days.

Slodysko and LaPorta, however, obtained documents that describe a different military history.

According to the documents, obtained through a public records request, Majewski never deployed to Afghanistan.

He instead was stationed at Japan's Kadena Air Base for much of his active-duty service.

He later helped load planes at an air base in Qatar for six months and was always at a safe distance from any combat.

Majewski, a staunchly pro-Trump candidate who is running for office for the first time, currently has a solid chance of defeating longtime Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, as the Ohio district has been recently redrawn to favor Republicans.

According to the AP reporters, Majewski previously worked in the nuclear power industry and had a stint as a pro-Trump hip-hop performer and promoter of the QAnon conspiracy theory. Majewski was also present at the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Majewski issued a statement to the AP regarding the report, yet did not directly address concerns about his claim of deploying to Afghanistan.

MEDIA LOSER:
St. Louis News Anchor
Vic Faust

St. Louis news anchor Vic Faust berated a female colleague in an ugly and expletive-laced off-air rant.

Audio of the exchange between the two Fox 2 news hosts was published by the St. Louis Dispatch this week, and Faust has since confirmed the confrontation occurred.

Faust lost it during the end of his morning radio show on 100.7 KFNS when his co-host Crystal Cooper poked fun at his computer abilities.

In his verbal tirade, Faust calls Cooper “fat”, “stupid”, “nasty”, and even tells her to not come back to the show, claiming she has a history of attacking him on the air.

“You’re a f*cking mom, you don’t even know the topics we’re talking about. You’re just stupid,” Faust said.

He later added that he felt bad for Cooper’s kids and claimed he’d made multiple complaints about her allegedly attacking him on air.

“Your kids have a f*cking terrible mom. I feel sorry for them,” he said prompting Cooper to tell Faust he was acting "immature" and to "grow up."

Faust also told Cooper he’d tell her “you’re a f*cking fat, nasty bitch” every day if she came back to work, to which his co-host informed him that he isn’t her boss and can't determine her ability to go to work.

As Faust got more and more vulgar and heated, one voice off-mic can be heard trying to convince him to stop.

The audio was recorded Tuesday and Faust did not show up for his regular hosting duties that night on Fox affiliate KTVI, a Nexstar station

Faust has since apologized for the tirade, calling for an "open dialogue about respect in the workplace and forgiveness."
