Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Benjamin Hall

Fox News's veteran foreign correspondent Benjamin Hall's new memoir has topped The New York Times Best-Seller list in less than 10 days.

The memoir details his rescue and recovery after he was critically wounded in a Russian attack on his crew's vehicle while covering the war in Ukraine last year.

Halls lost one leg and both feet, his sight in one eye, and his ability to use one of his hands. The attack also claimed the life of his colleagues and friends, cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian consultant Sasha Kuvshynova.

In the heartfelt and candid memoir, Hall reveals what he learned from his experiences, shares personal stories, such as hearing his daughter's voice during the attack, and ensures to lay the blame for the attack squarely at the feet of Russia.

His memoir, titled Saved: A War Reporter’s Mission to Make It Home, was an instant hit, and has already claimed the Times' number one spot in their non-fiction category.

Aside from the success of Hall’s book, Nielsen data shows that Fox News’ documentary on his recovery also had a successful premiere, drawing in 897,000 viewers and 92,000 in the crucial 25-54 age demographic.

Congratulations to Hall for the success of his memoir, which offers perspective on the dangers of covering a warzone, while highlighting how good people and strong faith have helped him through every step of his recovery.

MEDIA LOSER:
Candace Owens

Commentator and self-proclaimed “Karen” Candace Owens went after country music singer Maren Morris after she shared with a concert crowd that she had introduced her young son to drag queens.

Morris appeared at the "Love Rising LGBTQ+" benefit concert in Nashville on Saturday alongside other artists and representatives from the drag community. The concert was held as a form of protest after Tennessee became the first state to restrict drag performances.

While on stage, Morris told the crowd that she introduced her three-year-old son to several drag queens while the performers were getting ready for a soundcheck that day.

"Yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f*cking arrest me," she added.

While the clip earned mixed reactions, Owens, who has a knack for taking things several steps too far, slammed Morris for "pandering to the LGBTQ+ community while disrespecting the fans" of country music.

She then declared herself a "proud Karen" and "defender of children," before threatening to call the police and "contact the governor's office" if Morris were to ever hypothetically support her son's decision to transition.

Sorry Owens, but threatening to call the authorities on a parent who has not exhibited any signs of abuse (and no, supporting the LGBTQ+ community in the past, present, or future does not count) is certainly not how you protect a child.
