Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
CNN's Jim Acosta and Chris Wallace

CNN anchors Jim Acosta and Chris Wallace dominated the ratings across 8 hours over the weekend, beating Fox News and MSNBC in the key demo and total viewers for most of them.

Acosta anchored seven hours of CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta, on Saturday and Sunday, and -- perhaps buoyed by interest in the midterms -- beat all his competition on Fox News and MSNBC in the key 25-54-year-old demo across all seven hours he hosted.

He was also number one in total viewers for six of those seven hours.

Wallace anchors Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, which drops three full episodes each Friday morning. CNN then airs a version recapping highlights every Sunday at 7 p.m.

Even after being streamed for three days on HBO Max, Wallace still beat the competition in the demo, with 142,000 viewers 25-54 years old to MSNBC’s 64k and Fox News’ 80k. Fox’s Sunday Night in America was number one in total viewers with more than 1.2 million viewers.

Wallace’s performance represents a marked improvement since the series came back after the demise of CNN+. His most recent episode, for example, is up 209 percent since his first episode aired in September.

Congratulations to both on the impressive ratings! The CNN anchors beat out some tough competition in the demo -- a rare feat that Acosta manages to accomplish regularly.

MEDIA LOSER:
Fox News host Pete Hegseth and contributor Mike Huckabee

The rest of the Murdoch empire may have moved on from Donald Trump, but his support remains blindingly strong among some of the more sycophantic voices on Fox News.

Fox News anchor Sean Hannity invited Trump backers Pete Hegseth and Mike Huckabee on to discuss Trump's 2024 campaign for the White House on Tuesday night, and they did not waste a second to rally behind the former president.

Just days after the Republican Party largely turned on Trump due to the turnout of the midterm elections, Hegseth and Huckabee went back to fawning over the former president -- for a speech that was universally panned as uninspiring and incoherent.

"This looks like Trump in as good of form as you have ever seen him, sticking to the issues that matter to his voters and making the case to the Republican primary voters he is the guy to be the standard-bearer, as the original who remade the party," Hegseth said.

"If he keeps on like this tonight, he is unbeatable in 2024," Huckabee added, piling on the praise. "Nobody can touch him. Not a Republican. Not a Democrat."

Other pundits and observers, including several conservative figures, disagreed with the unreasonably sycophantic praise.

In fact, they were highly critical of the speech, and labeled it as bland, dispirited, and “low energy.”
