MEDIA LOSER: New York Post
The New York Post had quite the morning after a rogue employee shared racist, offensive, and crass content on the outlet's website and Twitter page on Thursday.
"Devine: We must murder Joe and Hunter Biden," read one tweet, referring to columnist Miranda Devine, while another claimed Christopher Rufo said, "We must destroy and imprison Union teachers."
Other deleted tweets included horrific fake headlines about New York gubernatorial candidates Lee Zeldin and Kathy Hochul, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
The incident began on Thursday, around 9 a.m. ET, when the Post tweeted a supposed Ben Shapiro piece with the title “We must assassinate AOC for America.” Yikes. The story was quickly deleted from the Post website, but many tweets remained. In a statement to Mediaite, the Post said an investigation found the attack was carried out by a rogue employee — not a hacker as initially claimed -- meaning this could happen to any of us media outlets.
“The New York Post’s investigation indicates that the unauthorized conduct was committed by an employee, and the employee has been terminated,” they said.
“This morning, we immediately removed the vile and reprehensible content from our website and social media accounts.”
The paper said the employee has been fired, but unfortunately for the Post, the internet, including those "vile and reprehensible" tweets, is forever. |
