Friend,
Nearly 23-million households received notice today that the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) will run out of money as soon as April unless Congress provides additional funding.
The ACP was created by 2021’s bipartisan infrastructure bill and is a major step toward closing the digital divide — which impacts Black, Brown and Indigenous communities the most. The program provides subsidies to people living near the poverty line or enrolled in federal-aid programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
Demand for the program continues to rise, with estimates suggesting that upwards of 50-million households are eligible. Even though the ACP enjoys bipartisan support inside and outside of Congress, we know that dysfunction on Capitol Hill can seriously jeopardize people’s ability to make ends meet.
That’s where you come in. Millions of people across the country are calling Congress to urge lawmakers to pass the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act, which will appropriate $7 billion and keep families connected through the end of 2024. Call your elected officials today.
Here’s a sample script to get you started: Hello! My name is (First Name). I'm a constituent and am calling to ask you to support the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act. |
