Dear Friend of CAM,
As we continued to face the COVID pandemic this year, thousands of visitors found solace in Safe Places, an exhibition of paintings by NC artist Robert Johnson of North Carolina’s 41 state parks, and A House of One Room, a beautiful installation of large-scale nature paintings by Davidson artist Elizabeth Bradford. The I Have a Dream Peace Flag project allowed 400 local children - from schools, Wilmington Housing Authority, and youth development organizations - to create and display art at the museum. Fifth grade field trips started back in October, serving over 2,000 students, and CAM welcomed 1,500 people for the unveiling of Boundless in November. Our community continues to demonstrate the ways that art sustains us, even in the darkest time.
This past spring, we asked the question “Why do you visit CAM?” The answers we received were varied, but each spoke to the vital role of the museum in the Cape Fear Region.
