“The world is awash in meaning and signal that we are just unaware of,” says machine learning expert Aza Raskin. “A.I. throws open the aperture of what we can perceive.” A.I. can find meaningful patterns in otherwise unintelligible noise, so scientists are starting to wonder: Can it help humans interpret animal sounds?
