Can blood pressure medications raise triglycerides?

Yes, some blood pressure medications can affect triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide) is commonly prescribed for high blood pressure. This diuretic in high doses of 50 milligrams or more can temporarily increase low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides.
