âCan there be a biological mutation in the cells of the brain? If there are a few people, say half a dozen people in the world, who have really brought about a biological mutation, a great radical change, it would affect the stream of consciousness. If each one felt the immense responsibility of this and were no longer swimming in the stream... oh, it would be marvelous. It would certainly affect the whole stream. One would affect it somewhat, but if there were fifty or a hundred people, it would be an immense thing.â

Dear Friends,

Krishnamurti asks if it is possible to transform at the cellular level, a change so fundamental that it takes place in the mind, the brain. He suggests that this significant change would affect the entire stream of consciousness. In these challenging times when inward and outward conflict is at an all-time high, a radical revolution of the psyche is necessary. Although humanity attempts to get by with small, incremental changes, Krishnamurti says this is futile; it is a mutation in the mind itself that creates total transformation.

While Krishnamurti spoke of total psychological revolution, he also implied it is not a product of thought or something one accomplishes. This cellular mutation he discussed may be related to something beyond thought. Our theme for this year, Choiceless Awareness, is a phrase Krishnamurti used to draw attention to a perception unconnected to the cognition or decision-making process. We chose this theme in light of the many challenges that humanity has faced especially in these last couple of years.

At the Foundation, we continue our work of finding new ways to support the exploration of dialogue, relationship, nature, and the teachings. In addition to maintaining and operating the centers, we provide spaces online that enable dialogue and deep inquiry. Our online programs, livestream radio events, publications, and social media channels are available to the global online community.

The insights and potential for self-knowledge that Krishnamurtiâs teachings inspire have the ability to radically transform the world. The psychological revolution he speaks of is not one born of thought and the responsibility for change lies with each individual. Together, we contribute to the possibility of living in a more peaceful and sane society.
