Can You Prosper During this Gargantuan Economic Decline? Axel Merk returns as a guest on the radio program and Lyn Alden appears for the first time. When gold was removed from monetary system in 1971, it opened the door to legal monetary counterfeit by the Fed to big banks and their large Wall Street and government related economists. With each credit cycle decline, a new wave of wealth is transferred to the privileged few causing the cost of living to rise much faster than middle class salaries. With each credit cycle larger than the last and with what is now shaping up as a depression akin to the 1930s or worse, America's middle class is in danger of largely disappearing with countless trillions of new money being created again primarily for the elite. We will ask Lyn to help us understand the emergence of this impending American economic tragedy and we will ask Axel to provide his analysis of various markets and how average folks can best prepare for survival and hopefully prosper in the midst of this impending economic depression. |
Axel Merk is the President and CIO of Merk Investments, manager of the Merk Funds, which he founded in Switzerland (1994) by pooling the investments he had been managing for his friends starting in college. He then relocated the firm to California in 2001 as a SEC registered investment advisory. Merk is an expert on macro trends as well as an innovator in gold and currency investing. He is a sought-after speaker, contributor and author (his book, Sustainable Wealth, describes how the greater economic universe works, how it might affect and how to manage your finances to seek financial stability). Axel Merk holds a B.A. in Economics (magna cum laude) and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from Brown University. Merk's insight and expertise have allowed him to predict major economic developments (he identified the credit bubble and moved his clients out of real estate and the faltering U.S. dollar, into hard currencies and gold ahead of the equity and credit market collapse of last decade). Lyn Alden's background lies in the intersection of engineering and finance. Ms. Alden has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in engineering management, with a focus on engineering economics and financial modeling. She oversees the finances and day-to-day operations of an engineering facility and has been performing investment research for over fifteen years in various public and private capacities. Her work has been editorially featured or cited on Forbes, Business Insider, Marketwatch, Time's Money Magazine, The Daily Telegraph, The Street, CNBC, US News and World Report, Kiplinger, Huffington Post, and elsewhere. She is also a regular contributor to Seeking Alpha, FEDweek, and Elliot Wave Trader. Her website (https://www.lynalden.com) provides investment research and strategy, covering stocks, options, precious metals, international equities, and alternative investments, with a specialization in asset allocation. |
