With digital identity increasingly becoming a significant part of our lives, countries are now making efforts to ensure proper and authentic channels to create and maintain digital identity registries. For example, while India relies on Aadhaar for the digital identification of its registered citizens, the US issues Social Security Numbers (SSNs). In Canada, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat collaborates with other departments and jurisdictions to develop a pan-Canadian approach to digital identity as most people now access services online, and possessing a verified digital identity makes online processes easier and more secure. |
