The VIP house in Gellibrand Street, Campbell, originally built for the Minister for the Interior, Mr Hunt, was offered at auction on this day in 1972. After controversy over the house in Parliament the previous year, Mr Hunt decided not to buy the house after allegations of favoured treatment had been made by Parliament and so he made private arrangements instead. The house, which commanded sweeping views of the lake, was built at a cost of $26,500.  READ MORE
