November 4, 2021

Good afternoon! I was up super early to do a travel segment on BNC talking about passenger's rights if your flight gets delayed or canceled. My answer is today's travel tip: American or Southwest Canceled Flight? Here’s What All Airline Passengers Are Entitled To By Law

In fact, this whole week I've done a ton of interviews including NBC Nightly News, CBS Los Angeles, Bob Sirott's Show on WGN RadioReuters, Yahoo Finance, CBS Atlanta and CBS Baltimore. It was very cool to be included in their coverage and most of it was around the American and Southwest airlines debacle. Both airlines are still trying to get their schedules back on track after the weekend so if you're flying one of these airlines, pack your patience.

Too Much Traffic? Say What?
What a difference a week makes, eh? Not only are we all back to being healthy but I had the best week ever in terms of traffic to the website. In fact, I almost didn't send today's newsletter because my server is getting too much traffic and is buckling under the pressure. My hosting company has been trying to upsell me to a bigger server, which comes with a hefty price tag, but I might have to do it if this welcome surprise continues.

Here are the stories that are generating the bulk of the traffic so if you get a 504 Error message, please let me know and just refresh the page, which should do the trick. I apologize in advance if you run into any issues.

Warning to Travelers With Clear, TSA PreCheck and Elite Status
Just because you have CLEAR, TSA PreCheck and/or elite status, don’t expect to cruise through security like in the past. Here's why.

Should You Cancel Your American or Southwest Airlines Holiday Tickets and Rebook on Another Carrier?
Here's my answer.

American Airlines Kicks Off A Passenger Because of the Written Words on Her Face Mask and I Don't Get What Other People Don't Get
My buddy Gary Leff over at View from the Wing wrote an enticing post titled “Woman Kicked Off American Airlines Flight For The Mask She Was Wearing And I’m So Confused.” Of course I clicked on the link, probably just like you're about to click this post to see what the mask looks like. Spoiler alert: I find it offensive.

How to Get Free Upgrades and Points on American Airlines
In the past, I never paid much attention to this part of the American Airlines reward program but that was a mistake because I was missing out on some valuable perks. Here's what you need to know.

A Brilliant Trick To Save Huge On Airfares
My buddy Zach just shared this incredible tip: "My favorite trick for saving LOTS of money with Google Flights. See how 40 seconds of work gets my flight down from $1,001 to $524. Try it yourself and let me know how much you save! 🙌" Here's how the simple trick works.

Whether you live in California or are planning a trip to The Golden State, being safe and responsible is key for everyone. As climate change continues to alter the planet as we know it, responsible travel is a growing theme travelers are starting to see more and more around the globe. Here's what you need to know.

How To Shop and Make Money
These days, it’s getting more expensive to use miles and points to upgrade but thanks to the pandemic, it costs a lot less if you pay by cash. On top of that, I have two little kids so having extra cash is a huge bonus. So if you care more about money than miles and points and shop online, then you will definitely want to check out RebatesMe. It’s one of the top cashback websites where you can earn money for every online purchase you make. They have over 4,000 online retailers to earn you money while shopping, eating and travel. Book Holiday Flights
I mentioned last week, if you haven't purchased your Thanksgiving or Christmas flights, you better get cracking. Airfares are rising 3-5% each day!
