Keungmo Yang,Sung Eun Choi,and Won-Il Jeong A breakthrough in the treatment of alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) may be on the horizon, as researchers learn more about the important role of cannabinoid signaling in the liver. Over the past decades, mounting evidence has shown that the bodys internal cannabinoid system modulates the progression of various diseases, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis, and ALD. Efforts to target these signaling pathways in pharmacologic treatment of ALD are described. |
