Hi Achternaam,

What's your favorite fall fruit?

Apples and pears are two of the most popular fruits for preserving, and for good reason. You can do so much with them!

I shared a few recipes in the last several newsletters, but here's another:

Canning Pears - Though a sugar syrup is standard, I opted to use a medium honey syrup for a different flavor. While browsing around looking for something fun to do, I also came across many vanilla pear jam recipes. Inspired, I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract to my syrup. YUM.

Pickled Green Tomatoes - Save this recipe for the end of tomato season, when you need to use up those last green tomatoes that won't ripen before the frost arrives.

Expiration Dates for Home Canned Food - How long can home canned food be stored? How long will it last? Is there an expiration date for home canned foods? Watch this video for some answers.

Canning Racks - Even the sturdiest canning racks will eventually rust and need replacing. A canning rack can be purchased almost anywhere you can find canning supplies, but there are alternatives as well!
