| Hi Achternaam, So it looks like canning supplies may once again be in short supply this year. If you are looking for canning lids some areas have them... some don't. Last year there were dozens of new websites selling canning lids. Many were reportedly pretty poor quality. Some of them even advertised that they were Ball lids but the lids being delivered were not. They were shipping unmarked generic lids.
Does that mean all generic lids are of poor quality? No! I've purchased generic unlabeled bulk lids from reputable stores and had no issues. FillmoreContainer.com is a sponsor of SimplyCanning and sells lids... good lids, both name brand and unlabeled. The unlabeled lids must come from a reliable source as they worked fine. You'll have to check with Fillmore for availability. If you are ordering from other online stores, check the websites for clues. Especially look at their about pages and return policies. You can often tell from these pages if the company has been around or if they just threw a website up recently. Reuseable lids are another great option. See the link below. |
