FORECAST IN DETAIL

We’re a tad warmer and a bit less humid today–quite nice for the last weekend in June. But humidity rises again tomorrow ahead of our next cold front, which brings the potential for showers and storms late tomorrow and especially tomorrow night, with perhaps a lingering chance on Tuesday. With any luck, the front clears the area by Wednesday, but that’s not a sure bet yet.

Today (Sunday): Mostly sunny skies shine down on us once again today as we go 2-for-2 on the weekend. Highs head for the mid-to-upper 80s, with only a few clouds floating through blue skies. The breeze is a gentle one, around 5-10 mph from the south-southeast, with fairly low humidity (dew points mainly in the 50s). Hard to beat for late June!  Confidence: High

Tonight: Skies stay mostly clear through the evening and into the overnight, but some clouds may begin to move in late as moisture levels pick up a bit. There’s not much to the nighttime forecast other than that, as winds continue light out of the south and lows settle in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Conditions turn more typically summery as humidity returns to the moderate range. Skies should start out mostly sunny as temperatures again rise toward highs in the mid-to-upper 80s, but an approaching cold front may bring increasing afternoon clouds. Showers and thunderstorms likely break out to our west during the afternoon, with around a 30% chance they make it into the metro area before evening. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: As the front gets closer, showers and storms become more likely through the evening and overnight (50% chance). With mostly cloudy skies, we’ll stay on the warm and sticky side, as lows only dip to the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Our front seems to be in no hurry to clear out, which means a continued chance of scattered showers and storms on Tuesday, mainly during the afternoon into evening. It’s not overly hot, but rather humid with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Mostly cloudy skies slowly clear toward dawn as lows reach the mid-to-upper 60s.  Confidence: Medium

The front could get hung up further and muddle the forecast on Wednesday. But for now it looks to clear through enough to bring at least partial sun as higher pressure tries to build in from the northwest. Highs in the 80s should feel fairly nice with decreasing humidity. Confidence: Low-Medium
