FORECAST IN DETAIL

Weather won’t be a factor in your decision to vote today — it’s a near-perfect day after a frosty start. Clouds creep in tonight and deliver showers and cooler conditions tomorrow. We recover by Thursday and Friday with more sunshine, but a quick cold front delivers a crisp and dry weekend.

NICE DAY USE THIS ONE nice_day

Today (Election Day): Patchy frost is possible, especially in low-lying areas. Then sunny skies push temperatures into the middle to upper 60s — possibly 70 — in the afternoon. Light breezes are from the southwest at about 5 mph. Very low humidity makes for a comfortable, warm autumn day. Confidence: High

Tonight: Clouds encroach overnight with a shot at showers toward dawn. Lows range from the middle 40s to middle 50s with the coolest weather earlier in the night before the clouds thicken. Breezes from the southwest again at about 5 mph.  Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Hump day delivers some grumpy gray skies with on-and-off showers. Highs only manage the low to mid-60s. Winds pick up from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph with gusts to 15 to 20 mph, making it feel cooler at times. Rainfall totals are expected to be around a tenth to a quarter inch, but there is a chance some spots north and east of the city could pick up more. Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow night: Some clearing overnight with breezy to gusty winds ushering in colder conditions. Lows toward dawn get down to the middle 30s in the outer suburbs to the low 40s in the city. Confidence: Medium-high

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunshine returns Thursday, but temperatures are cool in the middle to upper 50s. Thursday night should be mostly clear with lows ranging from the middle 30s to the middle 40s. Confidence: Medium-high

Friday (Veterans Day) edges a bit warmer with mostly sunny morning skies becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon as breezes pick up, too. Highs are in the middle 60s at about noon but things turn cooler in the afternoon thanks to a strong cold front. Friday night runs partly cloudy, breezy and chillier with lows in the 30s to around 40. Confidence: Medium

The weekend starts on the colder side but warms a little in the end. Saturday aims for mostly sunny skies with highs only in the upper 40s to low 50s. Saturday night sees lows ranging through the 30s under mostly clear skies. Sunday looks sunny too as temperatures range into the upper 50s to about 60. Confidence: Medium
