FORECAST IN DETAIL

This fall started really warm, then it turned rather cloudy and rainy. All the while, we’ve been waiting for some classic Mid-Atlantic fall weather — e.g., sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Well, that stretch is here. It’s about perfect for outdoor revelry today and at least into next week.

nice day

Today (Saturday): Parks, trails and sidewalks are sure to be crowded as it’s going to be much too nice to be indoors. It’s a crisp start, but as soon as the sun goes to work, there’s no complaining allowed. Finding many clouds may be difficult, and quite sunny skies help temperatures rise mainly into the mid-60s to around 70. Winds swing around toward the south as the day goes, blowing around 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: It’s a windows-open kind of evening, and we don’t end up as chilly as recent nights. Clear skies do release the day’s warmth fairly quickly, though. Lows end up in the mid-40s to the mid-50s. Coolest in the suburbs north and west, and warmest in the city, as usual. Confidence: High

nice day

Tomorrow (Sunday): If it’s possible to improve on today, we might do so to finish up the weekend. I’m a 70s kind of person, so this is perhaps an 11 on my Daily Digit scale! Skies are again dominated by deep blue and warm sunshine. High temperatures are above 70 in most spots, perhaps heading toward the mid-70s in some. Winds are from the south and southwest around 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Humidity might become noticeable once we get into evening. Nothing too bad, but dew points seem to want to near 60, which is fairly high for this time of year. That increased moisture helps keep temperatures up. Lows are mainly near 60 and into the low 60s. A spot or two of fog is possible by morning. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

nice day

Nice Day times two, with caveats. Both Monday and Tuesday are rather warm for mid-October. Humidity levels stay elevated, and that might help allow skies to be more like partly cloudy rather than totally clear. This warmer regime is also around its most mature, so temperatures near and past 80 are possible both days. On Tuesday, we could make a run for the mid-80s. Confidence: Medium-High
