FORECAST IN DETAIL

Today is a bit unsettled, with the ever-present chance of showers and an increasing breeze. But the weekend pays us back handsomely. Saturday should be perfection with no excuse for staying indoors! Sunday is a bit tricky with a chance of late-day showers, but Halloween looks fine for going out and getting treats.

Today (Thursday): There could be a few breaks in the clouds to start the day, but they’ll quickly thicken. Light showers are possible from mid-morning on but are unlikely to amount to much. The best chance of measurable rain is in the afternoon but, for most, probably no more than a tenth of an inch. Winds pick up from the southeast at 10-15 mph and gust to 25 mph by afternoon. Highs range from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Light showers may linger into the evening, but amounts are still light. Winds remain gusty through the night shifting from southwest to northwest. Clouds hold the temps up through the night with lows only in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Friday): Clouds should quickly disappear in the morning as drier air pours in on gusty northwest winds. Despite the chill of the wind, sunny skies and highs mostly in the low 60s should still feel fine compared with the last couple of days. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Winds will die down in the evening, but readings in the 50s will require jackets for jaunts out and about. Lows range from the low-to-mid-40s suburbs to upper 40s in town. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Saturday looks about as good as it gets with calm, sunny conditions and highs in the lower 70s. Great for early leaf peeping, Halloween revelry or attending the local sporting event. Lows only slowly slip into the 50s overnight. Confidence: High

Sunshine still holds early Sunday, but clouds are likely to begin gathering by afternoon. This is courtesy of a quick-moving little upper-air disturbance, and if it gets as strong as some models show, a  shower late in the day is possible. Highs should still be a delight — in the mid-to-upper 60s. Skies clear overnight, and lows fall to the 40s. Confidence: Medium

Halloween (Monday) is a fine fall day with mainly sunny skies, calm winds and highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. All looks good for the official trick-or-treating crew, with evening readings in the 50s. Confidence: Medium
