FORECAST IN DETAIL

The cooler weather has certainly settled in, with a noticeable chill in the air this morning. Today’s sun gives way to a cloudy day tomorrow with a few light showers possible. But skies brighten again Friday with a nicely timed warming trend heading into the weekend.

Today (Wednesday): Cool high pressure remains in control today as we lose yesterday’s gusty breeze, but run a few degrees cooler as well. Starting from morning lows in the 30s across many of our cooler suburbs, afternoon highs should reach the mid-50s to near 60 under mostly to partly sunny skies, with a light wind from the north. Confidence: High

Tonight: Clouds increase as the high pressure begins to retreat to our north. That should keep temperatures a few degrees warmer than last night, with lows mainly in the 40s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): We run the risk of a few showers through the course of the day as low pressure skirts to our north. Any showers look to be on the light side, unless that low shifts a bit further south. A milder breeze from the south, increasing to around 10 to 15 mph, should help highs to near 60 to the low 60s despite mostly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: That shower chance may continue into the evening, but diminishes overnight as winds from the northwest bring in drier air. Some clearing skies are possible overnight or toward morning, as lows drop to the mid-40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

High pressure regains control Friday and Saturday, bringing partly to mostly sunny skies that should last through Sunday. High temperatures gradually warm from near 60 on Friday, to the mid-60s to near 70 on Saturday, and upper 60s to mid-70s on Sunday with a passing shower possible. Nighttime lows follow a similar warming trend, with 40s expected Friday night and 50s on Saturday night. Confidence: Medium
