FORECAST IN DETAIL

It’s feeling like winter today, but that feeling won’t last long. Warmer air starts to come back into the area for Super Bowl Sunday. And once warmth arrives, we should see those conditions for the first half of the week. During that time, there is no significant storm risk.

Today (Saturday): It’s a cold start and we don’t warm up all that much. The good news is sunshine should be abundant, although some overnight clouds could linger into the morning. In the end, most of the day should be quite cloud free as highs reach the upper 30s to lower 40s. There may be a noticeable increase in cloudiness once again as we get toward sunset. Winds are out of the north and northwest around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds increase and thicken overnight. This helps put a bit of a cap on temperatures. Much of the fall may come early, especially if clouds are slow to arrive and clearer skies remain in the evening. Most spots should make the 20s, which might be around 30 in the city. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): Super Bowl Sunday presents a mix of clouds and sun. The cloudiest times should be during the first half of the day, when we could even see a random sprinkle or snowflake. Anything that falls is inconsequential. Highs ultimately reach the mid-40s to near 50. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: If clouds haven’t broken by the evening, they will do so and then partly cloudy conditions persist through the night. Temperatures end up bottoming out in the near 30 to mid-30s range. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

It’s mild again on Monday. Skies should also remain partly cloudy. Pretty benign for this time of year, which is often the peak of “big snowstorm season” around these parts. Instead of snow, we’re dealing with highs near 50 and relatively light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Clouds are more numerous again on Tuesday as a warm front pushes through the area. There could be a few showers as well, but it doesn’t look like anything heavy. Temperatures make a run toward 60. Confidence: Medium-High
