FORECAST IN DETAIL

Our wacky, wild and warm February continues after just a brief pit stop today before another round of impressive warmth later this week. Our warmest days look to be Thursday and Friday — 70s! — and we could manage to add Saturday to that list too. A big cold front comes through Saturday along with showers and even some thunderstorms, maybe. Sunday aims for cooler weather that feels a bit more like early March.

Today (Tuesday): Early spring takes a day off thanks to the light breeze from the east, sweeping in cooler air from the Atlantic. Highs are mainly in the 50s but a few spots could touch 60 degrees. Skies are partly cloudy, which translates to a partly-dreary feeling on what is the first day back to work for most of us. Confidence: Medium-high

Tonight: Clouds continue. Lows by dawn range through the 40s. Light breezes come from the south at 5-10 mph. Confidence: Medium-high.

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy skies can’t stop temperatures from surging warmer with ranges in the middle to upper 60s by afternoon. Light breezes from the southwest at about 5 mph. Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow night: Partly to mostly cloudy skies with lows ranging only from the middle 40s in the outer suburbs to the warm low 50s in the city. Confidence: Medium-high

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday runs the slight risk of a light shower in the afternoon as temperatures take off under partly cloudy skies. Look for highs to reach into the upper 60s to low 70s again. Some evening light shower chances again with clouds continuing Thursday night as lows only drop into the 50s. Confidence: Medium

Friday finds us still in a very warm regime.  Partly cloudy skies as highs should surge into the lower to middle 70s.  Cloudy and relatively warm again Friday night with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend is a bit… complicated. A strong cold front arrives at some point Saturday. It looks like it will bring a line of showers and maybe even scattered thunderstorms. Before this front comes through, temperatures will at least surge into the 60s, but highs in the 70s are possible if the cold front is slow to arrive. Rain might be heavy at times, but we need it. Saturday night we clear out and it gets colder with breezier conditions and lows ranging through the 30s to low 40s.  Sunday looks like mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower to middle 50s. Confidence: Low-medium
