* Code orange air-quality alert for Sunday: Unhealthy for sensitive groups * A hot start yesterday to a hot weekend in D.C. (Jim Havard via Flickr) TODAY’S DAILY DIGIT A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10. 3/10: Believe it or not, mid-to-upper 90s and moderate humidity may rank a couple points higher than what’s coming Monday. EXPRESS FORECAST Today: Slightly less humid, still very hot. Highs: Mid-to-upper 90s. Tonight: Increasing humidity, t’storm north?. Lows: 75-82. Tomorrow: Extremely hot and humid, chance of PM storms. Highs: Near 100. View the current weather conditions at The Washington Post headquarters. FORECAST IN DETAIL It’s still very hot mind you, just not quite as brutal as yesterday, with slightly lower humidity. The chance to see 100 comes back tomorrow, as does the chance for a few late-day storms, which would truly be welcome refreshment. Our stretch of mid-90s or higher is likely to continue into midweek, with a weak front bringing the potential for a few storms each day. Today (Sunday): We remain hazy, hot, and still fairly humid, just not quite as oppressive as yesterday. The sun relents only briefly behind a few afternoon clouds, as highs reach the mid-to-upper 90s, with the afternoon heat index into the upper 90s to low 100s. Like yesterday, you’ll want to avoid much time outside, unless you’re in a pool. Thunderstorm chances are slim to none in metro area. Confidence: High |
