FORECAST IN DETAIL

Well it was nice while it lasted, but you may have noticed our weather is a wee bit different than the past few days. We’re actually pretty close to normal today, but it sure feels chilly compared to the 70s, especially with a breeze. Spring fever does make a comeback heading into midweek, though we may have to dodge some raindrops along the way.

Today (Sunday): Hope you didn’t put those jackets away quite yet! We’re down around 25-30 degrees from yesterday’s pre-storm mid-70s. Or, in other words, about normal for this time of year. Highs reach the mid-40s to near 50 with partly sunny skies. And you’ll notice the wind, gusting out of the northwest at 20-30 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: Winds become light this evening and through the overnight as high pressure moves overhead. And with partly cloudy skies, evening temperatures should fall quickly through the 40s into the 30s. Our outer suburbs likely see overnight lows all the way down into the mid-to-upper 20s, while areas closer to and inside the Beltway bottom in the low-to-mid 30s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): That high pressure drifts far enough off the coast to allow partly to mostly cloudy skies. But temperatures still take a step upward as we start the work week, with highs somewhere in the 50s to near 60. Can’t rule out a few light showers during the afternoon (20% chance). Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: We’ll hang on to a 30% chance of a light shower or two in the midst of generally cloudy conditions. Light winds from the south keep us mild with lows mainly in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

A warm front brings plenty of clouds and the chance of some showers Tuesday into Tuesday night. Tuesday highs should have no trouble reaching the 60s, with Tuesday night lows not falling off much, only into the 50s to near 60. Confidence: Low-Medium

A stronger system approaches from the west on Wednesday, pushing the warm front even further to our north. That means we’ve got a chance to add to our 70-degree tally, with highs probably near 70 to the mid-70s. Showers look likely at some point, with thunderstorms possible as well. Confidence: Low-Medium
