FORECAST IN DETAIL

October usually brings at least one stretch of superb weather, and this week certainly seems to qualify as that. Most days should see at least partly sunny skies, with comfortable highs in the 60s to mid-70s. As of now, dry weather looks to prevail into the weekend.

nice dayToday (Wednesday): We start out several degrees warmer this morning than the last. And combined with partly sunny skies, we’ll see morning temperatures rise through the 50s and into the low 60s, and afternoon highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. Winds are light from the east-southeast around 5 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: Skies should remain partly cloudy through the evening, with increasing clouds and some patchy fog possible overnight. Lows dip to the upper 40s to mid-50s with light winds. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Skies start off partly sunny again, and with a mild breeze from the west-southwest, afternoon highs should get into the low to mid-70s. A cold front brings increasing afternoon clouds, but should tend to dry up as it comes through, with only a 20 percent chance of an afternoon shower. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Skies should trend mostly clear into the evening and overnight, as cooler air returns on a breeze from the northwest. Most spots settle back toward lows in the 40s, perhaps holding up near 50 downtown. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

High pressure holds court Friday and Saturday, delivering partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 60s, followed by Saturday-night lows in the mid-40s to low 50s. Skies may turn partly cloudy Sunday as high pressure shifts off the coast, with warmer highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, and a small chance of a late-day shower. Confidence: Medium
