FORECAST IN DETAIL

As we turn the page to February, I know some are wondering whether we’ll ever get real snow this winter. In the near term, it’s not looking good, at least not through the next week or so. We still might see a little snow on Super Bowl Sunday, but that doesn’t look too promising for significant accumulation, although things could still change. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy a fairly nice day today before cooling down tomorrow.

Today (Wednesday): Partly to mostly cloudy skies may keep us slightly cooler than yesterday, and we do have a chance of a stray shower or sprinkle. But after we start the morning in the 30s, a mild breeze from the west (about 5-10 mph) should still get afternoon highs to the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: We’ll probably stay partly to mostly cloudy through much of the night, with clearing skies possible toward morning. Lows remain several degrees above average, ranging from near 30 to the mid-30s, with light winds. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Winds pick up from the west-northwest, gusting at times to near 25 mph. That adds a chill to an already cooler day, as highs top out in the low to mid-40s under partly sunny skies. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: A cooler day is followed by a colder night, but conditions are still far from frigid. Lows should dip to the 20s to near 30 with partly cloudy skies. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

High pressure brings partly cloudy and cool conditions Friday through Saturday. Highs on Friday should again reach the low to mid-40s, but may stall in the upper 30s to low 40s on Saturday. Friday night and Saturday night lows settle in the 20s. Confidence: Medium-High

A weak-looking storm system moves through on Super Bowl Sunday with the likelihood of some light snow or rain as highs aim for the mid-30s to near 40. As of now, the precipitation doesn’t look heavy enough or temperatures cold enough to cause much trouble. But with several days to go, things could still change a bit, so stay tuned. Confidence: Low-Medium

SNOW POTENTIAL INDEX

1/10 (): Sunday storm system looking too weak and too warm, but let’s not count it out quite yet.
