FORECAST IN DETAIL

Through Wednesday, the weather is wonderful. We’ll have sunny, pleasant afternoons and cool, crisp nights. By Thursday, though, a cold front brings showers. Then, on Saturday, another period of rain is possible.

NICE DAY USE THIS ONE nice_day

Today (Monday): A cold front sneaks through the region early on. It kicks up the wind a bit but has little effect on temperature. With lots of sunshine, highs still aim for the upper 60s. Winds are from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph, with some gusts over 20 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Mostly clear, breezy and cool. Lows dip into the 40s pretty much everywhere, ranging from 40 in our colder suburbs to the mid-to-upper 40s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): It’s another day with ample sunshine but cool air flowing in from the northwest. This puts a lid on high temperatures around 60 degrees. The northwesterly breeze is moderate, generally about 10 to 15 mph with some gusts to 20 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: With high pressure overhead, winds go calm and skies are clear. These are close to ideal conditions for temperatures to fall off quickly. Lows dip all the way down to near freezing in our colder suburbs and to around 40 downtown. Expect some frost advisories and freeze warnings to be issued. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Following a frosty start in many areas Wednesday morning, temperatures make a partial recovery, reaching the mid-to-upper 50s in the afternoon. Sunshine’s in abundance, and breezes are light. Clouds increase Wednesday night with lows in the 40s. Confidence: Medium-High

Intermittent showers are likely Thursday into Thursday night as a cold front passes by. Temperatures remain a tad cool, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 40s. Confidence: Medium

Sunshine returns Friday, and it remains seasonably cool, with highs near 60. Mostly clear Friday night before some high clouds increase toward morning. Lows range through the 40s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend outlook is a bit iffy right now. Showers become a possibility Saturday, and they may linger into Sunday. It’s too soon to say how heavy any showers will be and how long they’ll last. Temperatures should continue to be neither particularly warm nor cool, with daytime highs near 60 and overnight lows in the 40s. Confidence: Medium
