FORECAST IN DETAIL

The humidity kicks back in starting tomorrow, so let’s try and enjoy Monday for a change! By Wednesday we’re back in a hot, humid air mass and we run the risk of afternoon thunderstorms through the end of the workweek. The weekend looks okay at this point, but that forecast hinges on the timing and strength of a cool front that’s expected to bring some drier air.

NICE DAY USE THIS ONE nice_dayToday (Monday): This might be borderline, but I’m making the call. It’s a Nice Day! Maybe a touch on the warm side for some, but overall pretty great compared to the scorching heat and humidity of last week. Highs are in the mid-80s — maybe up to 86 or 87 downtown — and humidity is tolerable with a dew point around 60. Skies are mostly sunny and winds are light. Confidence: High

Tonight: Mostly clear skies and overnight lows are in the upper 60s to low 70s. Winds are light. Some of the cooler, low-lying areas might develop fog in the early morning hours. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): A little bit hotter and a little bit more humid. High temperatures pull into the upper 80s and dew points reach the mid-60s — not oppressive, but it could be better. A few clouds pass through but the chance of rain is minimal as high pressure hangs on for one more day. Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow night: Overnight lows drop back into the upper 60s and low 70s. Skies are partly cloudy. Confidence: Medium-high

A LOOK AHEAD

A chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms begins Wednesday and continues Thursday and Friday. A warm front lifts north through the region on Wednesday, which means higher tempreatures and dew points through the rest of the workweek. Highs climb into the 90s, and humidity becomes significant again as dew points hit the dreaded 70-degree mark. Confidence: Medium

The weekend could turn out to be pretty good, assuming the cold front passes through on Friday. We’re still not confident in the timing or the strength of that front, but when it arrives it will bring drier, less-humid air with it. Highs could still hit 90 but it’s not as muggy.  Confidence: Low
