FORECAST IN DETAIL

After an idyllic autumn weekend, the weather for much of this upcoming work week also promises to be magnificent. Each afternoon, with the exception of Wednesday, we’re bathed in beautiful sunshine. But, by the weekend, the coldest air of the season arrives. No rain is expected this week, aside from a possible round of showers Wednesday.

Today (Monday): Many of us start the day with some frost and temperatures in the 30s. Despite wall-to-wall sunshine, highs probably hit their ceiling around 60, several degrees cooler than yesterday. Still, it feels pretty good in the afternoon sun, with just a light breeze from the north. Confidence: High

Tonight: It’s another clear and crisp fall night. Lows quickly fall through the 50s this evening. Overnight lows range from the frosty 30s in most of our suburbs, to 40-45 degrees downtown. Confidence: High

NICE DAY USE THIS ONE nice_day

Tomorrow (Election Day): It’s a cold, frosty start in many areas, but – thanks to our seemingly endless supply of sunshine – temperatures race through the 40s and 50s during the morning. And by afternoon, temperatures crest in the mid-60s. There will be absolutely no weather disruptions for voters. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Clouds sneak into the area Tuesday night and we even have a slight chance of rain showers by morning. It’s not as cold, with lows 45-50. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Wednesday is the one day this work week which may be a bit gloomy. A disturbance gliding through the region likely brings some clouds and (mostly) light showers. The clouds should keep temperatures from rising much above 60. Clearing skies Wednesday day night with lows in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

Thursday and Friday (Veterans Day) bring back the sunny days and cool nights that started off the week. Both days should have highs in the low 60s, with overnight lows in the 30s to near 40. On Friday night, a strong cold front arriving in the region may kick up the winds a bit and increase clouds some. Confidence: Medium-High

The weekend turns considerably colder behind our first (small) taste of Arctic air. Highs both days are only 50-55 and Saturday, in particular, will be a bit of a shock to the system thanks to not only the drop in temperatures but also blustery winds. Overnight lows should mostly be in the 30s. Confidence: Medium
