FORECAST IN DETAIL

The winds of yesterday are gone and skies should clear out later today. Two weather systems pass by tomorrow and Thursday, which will cool things off and kick up a breeze. We should stay mostly dry throughout, though, and while Friday is close to seasonal, Presidents’ Day weekend warms up into the 60s.

Today (Tuesday): Skies are cloudy this morning but we should see gradual clearing this afternoon. Temperatures will also be slightly higher than yesterday, ranging from the upper 40s to the lower 50s with a light breeze from the south. Humidity will be low. Confidence: High

Tonight: Just a few clouds as temperatures dip into a 30s range for low temperatures late. The wind is light from the southwest, about 5 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): A weather system to the north and one to the south mostly avoid us, but we see an increase in clouds and wind picks up in the afternoon. We can’t rule out a light shower or some light rain along far southern areas in the morning. Highs should range from the middle 40s to the middle 50s. The wind shifts out of the northwest at 10 to 15 mph by the afternoon with gusts of 20 to 25 mph possible. Confidence: Medium-high

Tomorrow night: Skies shift to mostly clear overnight as winds from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph bring colder temperatures. Look for lows in the middle 20s to about 30 by dawn. Confidence: Medium-high

Thursday is our “coldest” day of the week, with partly sunny skies and breezy conditions as highs only reach the lower to middle 40s. Thursday night aims for partly cloudy skies and lows from 20 in the outer suburbs to about 30 in the city. Confidence: Medium-high

Friday should be mostly sunny, with highs inching up a bit higher into the 40s (middle to upper for most areas). Friday night offers up partly cloudy skies with lows in the 30s. Confidence: Medium-high

The long Presidents’ Day weekend aims to be a splendid show of Mother Nature’s executive power. We’re talking about highs in the 60s each day — Saturday, Sunday and Monday — with partly to mostly sunny skies and lows mostly in the 40s to maybe near 50 with a few clouds. Confidence: Medium
