FORECAST IN DETAIL

Even with yesterday’s highs into the upper 60s, you can sense the tide turning a bit more toward winter every day. Today has some of that winter gray and showers too, while tomorrow’s bright but a bit breezy. Friday’s the warmest of the forecast period, quickly followed by a rather chilly Saturday. And so the ebb and flow toward winter continues . ..

Today (Wednesday): We don’t have the chilly start we had yesterday, be we won’t warm up as much either. A slow-moving cold front provides mostly cloudy skies and some light showers this morning, with a few lingering showers possible during the afternoon into early evening. The clouds and showers should cap temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60, with skies trying to brighten a bit this afternoon, as winds increase to 10-15 mph from the northwest. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: The lingering shower threat should exit to the east-southeast by around 5-7 p.m., followed by clearing skies and a cold breeze from the northwest at 10-20 mph. Overnight lows drop down to the upper 30s to low 40s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Bright sunshine returns, but winds remain a bit breezy from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Afternoon highs should manage the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: A light wind from the southwest starts to send a slightly milder air mass our way. That helps keep temperatures up a bit, with overnight lows settling in the upper 30s to mid-40s under mostly clear skies. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Winds pick up again on Friday as another cold front comes through, this one bringing only the slightest chance of a shower. Partly to mostly sunny skies prevail as highs head for near 60 to the low 60s. Colder air seeps in Friday night, sending lows down to the 30s. Confidence: Medium-High

A steady breeze from the north-northwest supplies a chilly Saturday, with highs only near 50 despite mostly sunny skies. Saturday night lows dip to the 30s, perhaps even some upper 20s far north and west. We’re still mostly sunny on Sunday, and a bit warmer as highs return to the mid-50s to near 60 with light winds. Confidence: Medium-High
