FORECAST IN DETAIL

Another spectacular day of sun and even warmer temperatures closes out our weekend in style! Plenty of sun and dry weather sticks around through midweek, with record highs a threat by Tuesday and Wednesday. So, about that whole official end of summer thing…

nice day

Today (Sunday): After some patchy fog early, morning temperatures warm nicely through the 50s and into the 60s, under partly to mostly sunny skies. And with high pressure centered to our southeast, a light wind from the south (around 5-10 mph) helps afternoon highs into the mid-70s. Confidence: High

Tonight: As humidity levels rise a bit, thanks to continued flow from the south, we don’t cool off quite as much as recent nights, and we may see a few periods of clouds or patchy fog. We’ll call it partly to mostly cloudy, with very light or calm winds. Lows remain generally mild, from the mid-50s to low 60s. Confidence: High

nice day

Tomorrow (Monday): Hope you didn’t pack up those shorts quite yet! Temperatures head well above normal with a summer-like area of high pressure sitting off the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast coast. I wouldn’t call it hot and humid, but you’ll surely notice a more summery feel. With mostly sunny skies and light winds from the south, highs should reach near 80 to the low 80s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The mild and tranquil conditions remain steadfast through the evening and overnight. Under mostly clear skies, we’ll see winds stay light, as lows range from the upper 50s to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Nothing much different to tell you for Tuesday. We’re still seeing lots of sun, little wind and warm temperatures. Expect highs in the low-to-mid 80s, which could even challenge the record highs for the day (DCA: 85, IAD: 82, BWI: 82). Tuesday night, we’ll see partly cloudy skies and lows in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

More of the same for Wednesday, as highs head back into the low-to-mid 80s under mostly sunny skies. That could again challenge the record highs for the day at Dulles (83) and BWI (82), while the record at DCA (88) may be a stretch. A cold front slowly sagging from the northwest could bring increasing clouds later in the day. Confidence: Medium
