Tonight: We can’t rule out a few storms roaming through the region this evening, especially north of town. Given the heat and humidity, any storms that develop could be intense with torrential rain, dangerous lightning and strong wind gusts. But most places probably avoid rain, keeping it warm and muggy overnight. Lows range through the 70s (upper 70s downtown, low 70s in outlying areas). Under partly sunny skies, highs reach the mid-90s in most spots, with some pockets of upper 90s. Humidity is a shade less than Monday, but peak heat index values (what it feels like) are still around 100 or a couple of degrees above. We could see a few thundershowers flaring up in the late afternoon (20 percent chance). Confidence: Medium-High Tomorrow night: Widely scattered storms may set up in the immediate metro region and especially our southern suburbs. But still, the chance of storms is just around 1 in 3. Most stay storm-free, and it’s muggy overnight — with lows ranging from near 70 in our cooler areas to the mid-to-upper 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High A LOOK AHEAD The forecast Wednesday through Sunday doesn’t vary much. Each day should be partly sunny, hot and humid. How hot any given day is will depend on the amount of cloud cover and the exact position of a weak, poorly defined front in our vicinity. Generally, highs range through the 90s – probably closer to 95 Wednesday through Friday and down closer to 90 by the weekend. Overnight night lows mostly range through the 70s. Each day features the opportunity for some late-day storms, but generally just 20 to 30 percent or so. Confidence: Medium |
