FORECAST IN DETAIL

The good news is it looks like the upper 90s to low 100s are behind us for the time being. And by Friday and the weekend, we’re talking highs in the more typical upper 80s to low 90s. But for today and tomorrow, we still will be dealing with the low-to-mid 90s and plenty of humidity, not to mention a daily storm chance through the weekend.

Today (Wednesday): Our hot and humid streak continues today, though with temperatures trimmed back just a bit from yesterday, with highs reaching the low-to-mid 90s. Much of the day should be dry, but a few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly midafternoon into evening. Otherwise we’re partly cloudy and still quite humid (dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s) with light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A few scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible through the night. With very light or even calm winds, the air stays stale and muggy as lows settle in the 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): The heat hangs tough with highs likely climbing into the low-to-mid 90s again under partly sunny skies, and if anything it’s even more humid, with dew points into the tropical low-to-mid 70s. By late afternoon or evening we do have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: That decent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms sticks around through the evening and overnight. Lows get hung up in the 70s again with mostly cloudy skies above. Confidence: Low-Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Friday features partly to mostly cloudy skies and a good chance of at least a few showers and thunderstorms at some point during the day, and perhaps into Friday night. Temperatures finally come down a bit, with highs around the upper 80s to low 90s, and the humidity still rather high. Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend looks fairly typical for the end of July and, thankfully, not excessively hot. Highs should reach the upper 80s to low 90s with moderate to high humidity. And as you might expect, we do have a chance of showers and storms each day, around 30 to 40 percent as of  now. Confidence: Low-Medium
