FORECAST IN DETAIL

The weather couldn’t be much better to kick off October’s first full week. It’s not too shabby for the middle part of the week, either, but air flow off the ocean may draw in low clouds and cooler temperatures.  The big question is what happens to Hurricane Matthew towards the weekend. Depending on Matthew’s track, it may stay safely out to sea or track close enough to bring some rain and wind.

NICE DAY USE THIS ONE nice_day

Today (Monday): The day should more or less define perfection. We have considerable sunshine, which is much appreciated after four and half days of cloudy skies.  Temperatures are exquisite as highs reach the mid-to-upper 70s. Breezes are light and refreshing from the northwest at 5-10 mph.  Confidence: High

Tonight: Clear, calm, and comfortable. Lows range from near 60 dowtown to the low-to-mid 50s in our cooler suburbs. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): This is probably another splendid day although as winds start to come in from the northeast, it may increase cloud cover a bit. We’ll call for mostly to partly sunny skies and highs 70-75. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Low clouds start to wedge into the region – especially towards morning,  as a result of high pressure parked to our northeast circulating moist air off the ocean into the region. Overnight lows range from 55-60. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

The forecast Wednesday through Friday is a little fuzzy and depends on how strong the incoming flow of air off the ocean becomes.  There’s a chance we’ll be wedged in with low clouds and cool conditions all three days. But if this marine air flow is weaker, sunshine may eat through low clouds each morning, producing very nice afternoons. For now we’ll call for partly sunny skies and highs around 70 during the day, and mostly cloudy skies at night (especially late), and lows mostly 55-60. Confidence: Medium

The weekend forecast is totally contingent on what happens with Hurricane Matthew. If it takes more of a western track, we’d have a period of rain and even some wind, but if it tracks east, we’d more likely have partly to mostly sunny skies.  Either way, highs shouldn’t be far from 70, with lows in the 50s to near 60. Confidence: Low-Medium
