The Daily Digest for March 22, 2016

Posted at 6:32 am by Mike Mulcahy

Good Tuesday morning. There were two bombings in Brussels Tuesday morning. Find the latest here.

Remember a few months ago when the governor wanted to have a special legislative session to help the Mille Lacs area because of the decline of the walleye fishery? The issue is in the news again. Here’s the Digest.

1.The DNR said Monday that for the first time walleye anglers on Lake Mille Lacs are not allowed to use live bait, and they will be allowed only to catch and release fish. And even with catch-and release only, the DNR might still have to end the walleye season early again. (MPR News)

2. Gov. Dayton wants $4 million set aside for legal fees associated with the PolyMet copper nickel mining proposal. (Star Tribune)

3. The St. Paul city council will consider blocking any taxpayer subsidies to help private developers near the proposed new soccer stadium. (Pioneer Press)

4. Why aren’t Republicans rallying around John Kasich? (New York Times)

5.In the 1980s if you were a reporter who called Donald Trump you might get transferred to spokesman John Barron. It turns out Trump and Barron were one and the same. (Washington Post)
