Good morning, and welcome to Wednesday. Gov. Mark Dayton delivers his annual State of the State speech tonight. You can listen to it live on MPR News tonight on the radio starting at 7. In the meantime let’s take a look at the Digest.

1. House Speaker Kurt Daudt says he has paid his credit card debt and insists that he did not get special treatment. He also hasn’t decided whether to release records to back it up as Democrats are demanding. (MPR News)

2. The 2016 legislative session got underway with a fight over access to the House chamber, which is in the middle of a construction zone. (MPR News)

3. The other big fight on the first day was over legislation to extend unemployment benefits to idled Iron Range workers. (Star Tribune)

4. Donald Trump won three out of four states that held GOP nominating contests Tuesday night. Yeah, that effort to stop him from winning the nomination isn’t going so well. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio didn’t pick up a single delegate. (Politico)

5. On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders scored an upset win in Michigan, but the narrow margin and Hillary Clinton’s win in Mississippi means she won more delegates. (New York Times)
