Mindfulness At Work | Capricorn Horoscope September 12, 2017 The everyday routine of your work might make it seem as if the hours are going by today and you might feel both dedicated but also disappointed as time seems to just fly by, for it may be that by being lost in what you are doing you might also feel that you have lost something. Cultivating a greater sense of awareness in your working life could not only help you to remain devoted to what you do, but also conscious of how you are doing it. Perhaps today you can try taking "mindfulness breaks" at set points doing the day. A mindfulness break is one in which you stop what you are doing, take a few minutes to either breathe deeply or meditate, and then reflect on what you have accomplished. Bringing mindfulness to your work activities could make your work something to be savored and might make the time you spend at it so much more valuable to you. Working with awareness allows us to both focus on what we are doing and appreciate the contributions we make. When we get caught up in the moment it is easy to start obsessing over details or simply to be lost in our work. Doing our tasks conscientiously, however, keeps us from being lost and unaware - instead we are cognizant of each thing that we do and how it all gives our life grater meaning. By bringing mindfulness to your work today, you will transform your work from being routine into something that is a treasure to be cherished. | DailyOM Course Spotlight by Sara Wiseman Perhaps you have heard the myth that creativity is difficult, fickle, fleeting? That in order to answer the call in your heart, you must give over everything: family, friends, health, security? That in order to truly create, you must wander in the wilderness, oblivious to all but your book, your art, your vision? These myths have been swirling around us for a very long time. For centuries, we've heard tales of the writer in his garret, the starving artist in her studio, the musician who succumbs to addiction, the dancer, poet, director or inventor who is forced to endure the greatest hardships in order to produce good work...real work. And yet... there is another way to approach creativity. This new way stems from the understanding that as human beings, we have changed. We have evolved past survival and scarcity and fear to a new way. Certainly, we have not evolved completely. But this small shift, this subtle opening and expansion in our collective consciousness is enough to allow us to recognize something very different--that creativity no longer requires struggle.
