Our Commonality | Capricorn Horoscope January 29, 2019 You may find it easy to do something selfless for other people today, which may be because you feel a great sense of empathy with their concerns. It might be that you realize the interconnected nature of everyone you encounter and understand that, while our experiences may be different, we all share the same feelings. Perhaps you can focus on developing your feelings of compassion for others. Before engaging in any type of service, volunteering, or a supportive role today, you could try to imagine that everyone around you is the same as you. Looking at their bodies, you might see that their skin, hair, and bones are composed of the same material as yours. When observing their emotions, you might notice if they are sad, happy, or indifferent, and think about a time when you felt the same way. You may see that your understanding of their situation becomes deeper once you are aware of the things you all share. Understanding our commonality allows us to serve others from a place of interdependence rather than out of a sense of self-importance. Developing our compassion engenders a feeling of universality; once we recognize that the trials and tribulations of other people are the same as ours, we see that there is no separation from each other. We begin to identify with what we share instead of focusing on what keeps us apart, which lets us treat all people equally. By seeing the sameness in everyone, you will be able to generate true empathy and compassion when you help others today. | DailyOM Course Spotlight by Gina Lake The key to happiness is being awake and aware of what is really happening in every moment rather than being absorbed in thoughts about the past, future, your life, other people, and the many other thoughts we get lost in. These thoughts don't add to our life or enhance our experience of life but detract from the potential joy, peace, and contentment inherent in each moment. Happiness is in our control, since where we focus our attention is in our control. When we focus on what the mind is telling us, we suffer; when we focus on what is real and true in this moment, we align with our true self and experience joy, peace, and contentment. Each day of this course will help you see through the egoic mind and the suffering it causes and will encourage you to live more in the moment and less in your mind. The happiness you will uncover over the next sixty days is the true and ever-present happiness that comes from contact with your true self. Top 10 DailyOM Courses 1.
