The demands of the outer world could compel you to seek solitude at home today. Finding comfort in seclusion might initially be a way for you to cut yourself off from the stresses that are present in your everyday life. If you can keep in mind that the problems you see are present outside your home are often quite similar to the issues you may have internally, you could notice that escaping may not be the only answer. Perhaps you can work on carrying a certain level of mindfulness with you throughout the day – regardless of where you are today – by simply naming the emotions you are feeling at any given point in time. This may help you to recognize that it is often not the situation that causes your feelings, but simply patterns that arise and pass in your mind.

Our reaction to a setting has more to do with our mental tendencies than with the actual conditions we find ourselves in. Knowing this allows us to look more critically at our lives and see that escaping to the privacy of our home is just one solution for dealing with the stresses in our lives, but it may not be the most effective. Learning to realize the different feelings you have as they manifest themselves today, though, will let you tune into the workings of your mind, making it easier to see just how your outer world is often a product of your inner thoughts.
